Coolnasillagh Road is located near a grassland ASSI and has a variety of wildflowers on its’ verge, including bluebells, pignut, water avens, primrose, bush vetch, wood anemone, bugle, early purple orchids, meadow sweet and lady’s smock to mention just a few of the early flowering species. These flowers are beautiful and they provide an essential food source for pollinators. Orange-tip butterflies can be seen flying around the lady’s smock and laying their eggs on these plants.
