Don’t Mow Toolkit Now Online

The funded phase of Don’t Mow Let It Grow has come to a close but the project most certainly has not! Ennis Tidy Towns transform roundabouts into wildlife havens

For many communities, the main obstacle to adopting pollinator-friendly grass management is the annual ‘cut and collect’ action. Cutting is simple; it is the follow-up collection exercise that can be very labour intensive and/or pose certain logistical issues.'Currently, in Ennis, 80% of their grassed roundabouts are subject to pollinator-friendly management, as championed by Ennis Tidy Towns with assistance from Ennis Municipal District Staff. Grass cuttings from roadside verges to be sold to the National Grid to raise money to save the environment

A great article in the Daily Telegraph highlighting how Lincolnshire County Council will be using grass cuttings from verges that have been allowed to grow into wildflower meadows. Sharing the Don’t Mow Story!

Don’t Mow Let, It Grow has been sharing its success with the rest of the Island, Rachel Bain, project manager, was invited to speak at the All Ireland Pollinator Conference in Cork in April.Rachel joined speakers from Ireland and the UK covering topics including pollinators and pesticides, planting for pollinators, alternatives to pesticides and changing landscapes.
